Program is completely idiotic about detecting what "idle time" is. You could be watching a movie, playing a video game, or ripping from a disk, and this program will have no qualms about launching into its "Norton Internet Security is currently performing background tasks" simply because you haven't moved the mouse in four minutes.
That stupid white box in the corner popping up nearly every day (and concomitantly consuming your RAM) has ruined many a project of mine and made this product the most exasperating I've ever seen from Norton. I assume there is no way to prevent the program from doing this, either. At least I can't find that in the settings.

I was specifically seeking this Norton product because it was highly recommended in other reviews and in Consumers Reports. The value presented by Amazon made it a great buy from a reliable source. The product performs well and as described in the recommendations. There is a computer performance analysis feature that I did not know about and have used successfully on two computers, one with Vista and the other with XP. The protection portion runs in the background and does not noticably slow either system down as I have found with other manufacturer's programs.

It does the job. Had an issue with my Id and passwords not filling in automatically. Tired of seeing pop-up messages about it doing some type of random check. Very annoying.

I recently updated my internet security and the Norton 2010 package was very easy to install on my 3 home based PC's. Its worth the peace of mind protection and comes as one of if not THE highest rated products of its kind.
