New TX for wife has no WiFi December 9, 2005 Jose Esguerra (Michigan) 11 out of 66 found this review helpful
Just bought a new TX for the wife, and it did not have wifi. It did not have the icon at the bottom next to Bluetooth. It did not have any files listed under "Info" that had to do with wifi. And it did not have an application for Wifi in Preferences/system. br / br /Got a bum unit. I spent hours trying to troubleshoot it, and doing research on the internet at sites like palminfocenter, brighthand, even palms user forums. No answers. This sucks. Wish I got paid for it all. It was just a waste of my time. br / br /I'm frustrated and angry.
Too bad December 8, 2005 T. Beard 4 out of 52 found this review helpful
This looks like a nice PDA. Too bad the website doesn't provide any way to actually buy the item, or have an actual address of customer service. I will be buying one, but probably from NewEgg, their website actually works.
If you are upgrading from an older Palm December 1, 2005 C. Burack (MA, USA) 24 out of 26 found this review helpful
Ditto on what's been written on the plus side: great screen, the included WiFi and VersaMail programs are easy to use, etc. br /I'm giving it 4 stars for all those reasons. br /Here's the caveat, and something that is referenced by a couple of others. I upgraded from a Palm XIIIe and I left my user profile on my computer so that the information (calendar, contacts, etc.) would be carried over to the TX. The Palm TX installation process includes a nifty feature in that during the installation it basically says "oops, you have some applications that conflict, we're going to put them in a separate file." Sounds good, but it doesn't catch them all. One is then on the road to resets, apps that don't work correctly, etc. If you are moving from an old Palm to this one I HIGHLY RECOMMEND the following: 1) before installing the TX, synch your old Palm and store a copy of your user folder in a different location, 2)remove your third party applications and old apps like MultiMail, 3)synch again. br /Now install the TX, and try reloading the third party apps you really want (you might check their sites to see if there are newer versions than the one you've got). You'll quickly see what apps cause a problem. I know this sounds a bit tedious, but it can really save you a ton of aggravation. And to end back at the 4 stars, I'd purchase the TX again without hesitation.
Wi-Fi and Multimedia Wonder November 28, 2005 D. ESPEJO (Los Angeles) 39 out of 39 found this review helpful
The last PDA i owned was a Palm m100 and it served it's purpose for two years until it finally failed and wouldn't start anymore. I went about two years without a PDA and I really missed having information at my finger tips. br / br /When I heard about the new Palm T|X I was intrigued by its features and its price point. I bought one online after doing some reasearch on this PDA. br / br /When I received it I also bought a 1GB SD card to put in my music and movies to take with me on a cruise ship for my 10th wedding anniversary. I used Pocket Tunes to play my MP3s while working out and while relaxing. I also downloaded the full FOTR movie encoded in divx and watched it during the ship's "entertainment" shows that my wife wanted to watch but I didn't care for (google TCPMP for the freeware movie player, don't get MMPlayer--it sucks). It perfomed remarkably well all throughout my vacation. br / br /When I returned from the cruise, I uploaded photos from my anniversary to the SD card and used the T|X to show pictures to our friends and relatives. I've also configured Versamail to access my Gmail account so I can access my email anywhere there's a wifi connection. The only thing I find lacking is the drive mode that the T5 and Life Drive both have. Compared to my old m100, the T|X is many times better and faster. I would recommend this PDA to anyone who needs wifi and multimedia capabilities at a reasonalble price. br / br /
Love my TX November 24, 2005 C. Ward (Detroit MI) 12 out of 15 found this review helpful
I had been shopping around for months to replace my Tungsten E, when they announced the TX. Yes, some of the old applications don't work, but that is to be expected when you update an operating system. I don't expect my old windows 96 computer programs to work on my new computer either. I did have to hard set my Tx when I transferred my data the 1st time, because I didn't read the instructions on moving from your old palm to the new one. Once I did that, it was a peice of cake. I love the WIFI, it is a breeze to use. I also like the rotating screen. I always had graffitti 2, so I am used to it and have no difficulties at all. I talked my 64yr old mother who is a teacher to get one, and she is extremely happy with hers. I love the plams, I had family members lining up to try and snag my old E.
