Synopsis
At Energy® Loudspeakers, we are rarely considered conventional. We believe that all sound channels in home theater should possess the same sound “power”. So, we built the RVSS, a compact effects satellite speaker that will provide both the omni-directional sense of spaciousness and ambiance that was recorded in the original soundtrack, and still deliver sound power to the listener that is very similar to the front speakers. The result is smooth, virtually seamless, panning of special effects from the front to the rear, and all around the listener. The best home theater surround sound results are conventionally derived from dipole speakers that provide for a “null” in the sound radiation pattern. By aiming this “dead” spot towards the main listening position, the pattern produces the desired enveloping phenomenon, offering no specific directional cues to the listener. Many effects speakers do that. But, by design, they are forced to sacrifice bass. Energy® RVSS satellite speakers are engineered with this essential dipole radiation pattern. It is especially effective in the critical 400 - 20KHz mid-to-high frequency range. In addition, the RVSS also features unusually deep bass response in the 60 - 400Hz range. This is a characteristic not often found in other surround speaker designs, due to a unique bipolar arrangement in the low frequency section. And, they still retain the compact size that home theater sound system owners are used to. The RVSS effects satellite loudspeakers are rated to handle from 15 to 125-watts per channel RMS, making them compatible with virtually all quality electronic components. And, the configuration of the dual-vent cabinet design also allows complete versatility in placement, in either side wall, rear or corner applications. They are available in a rich black finish or in neutral white.

The RVSS rear-channel compact effects satellite speaker provides both the omnidirectional sense of spaciousness and ambiance recorded in the original soundtrack and still deliver sound power that is very similar to the front speakers. It is the matching rear channel for the AC-300, Audissey series or Connoisseur series models. The unique di-pole/bi-pole design puts the midrange and high frequency information out of phase (di-pole) with each other, so the surround image is large and room filling. The low frequency information (below 400Hz) is in phase (bi-polar) allowing the full range of this dual woofer vented design to shine. It provides much bigger sound and imaging than any rear surround in its class.
The RVSS effect satellite loudspeaker is rated to handle from 15 to 125-watts per channel RMS, making it compatible with many quality electronic components. And, the configuration of the dual-vent cabinet design also allows complete versatility in placement, in either side wall, rear or corner applications. Other features include:
- Deep BIPOLAR bass response in the 60 - 400Hz range delivers the impact needed to render soundtracks realistically.
- Two 3/4 inch (19mm) ferro-fluid cooled soft dome tweeters are combined in a specially shaped enclosure with two 5-1/4 inch (13.3cm) drivers. This unique combination, plus a specially designed crossover network is the "brains" behind the exceptional sound.
- Injection molded polypropylene cones prevent distortion and ensure smooth frequency response throughout the wide dynamic range.
- The crossover point occurs at 2.2kHz. This extremely low crossover ensures that effects directionality does not occur.
- Nominal impedance is 6-ohms. Rated to handle from 15 to 125-watts per channel RMS, making them perfectly compatible with many quality electronic components
