Product Description
Tripp Lite's IEEE-1394b, or FireWire 800 cables, are the latest in FireWire technology, with data transfer speeds up to 800Mbps, twice the speed of original FireWire. The 9-pin to 4-pin FireWire 800 - FireWire cable (also known as a "bilingual" cable) will connect a 4-pin FireWire (1394a) device to a 9-pin FireWire 800 (1394b) port on a computer (FireWire 800 devices can achieve FireWire 800 speeds only when connected to a FireWire 800 port). These cables are 100% compatible with Apple FireWire, Sony iLink, and all other IEEE-1394b peripherals. Work as advertised September 6, 2010 I. Siddiqui (Farmington, MI) No problem using my 10+ year old Sony Hi8 camcorder to Imac, It also worked with newer Canon DV camcorder. good price at Amazon. It took some time to get it though.
i would recommend this product from seller.
waiting for item - eror in order August 29, 2010 dimitri3d Waitng for product to arrive.Error in shippment. Staff seemed very cooperative, and apologetic and friendly. Now waiting for new cable to arrive.
why spend more August 27, 2010 j35mc Checked Apple store and Best Buy for similar cable ($20-$40). Crazy!
This cable works exactly as it should.
Ordered it, it got here fast, it worked like a charm. August 9, 2010 James L. Rochelle (San Diego, Ca) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I ordered a new Mac Pro desktop a while ago and didn't realize apple had gotten rid of the original firewire connections. So I had a bunch of older DV tapes to download, but no cable. This one did the trick. Great buy, especially for the price.

Simply DOESN'T work August 7, 2010 Geoffrey Llewellyn Coe (NY/NJ) As far as I can tell, this product simply doesn't work. I tried to use this product to connect my camcorder (and a friend's camcorder) to my MacBook Pro. The product didn't work except for a half a second when trying to connect my friend's camcorder (got a connection for a half a second, then, nothing.) Unfortunately, Belkin cords (recommended by Apple) cost $50 each! Why??? It's just a dang cord! It would appear that these people are making money by selling cords that don't work while Belkin is making money selling cords that (I assume) work for the 'low' price of $50 each. Whether this cord would work under any circumstances, I don't know. At any rate, however, I can say that this cord - for whatever reason - didn't work for me.
