Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
Toshiba surveillance and IP video products continue to lead in video sureillance technology with the introduction of the IK-65WDA, a feature-rich 1/3" IT CCD color camera that boasts 133 times dynamic range and extreme low-light capabilities to help CCTV professionals achieve outstanding image quality in the most severe lighting conditions. This camera captures legible color images of both the background and foreground, where standard cameras only produce dark or washed-out images. This dual purpose camera also has multiple day/night modes, 53 dB signal-to-noise ratio and digital noise reduction to provide clean, noise free, superior images.

Amazon.com Product Description
The Toshiba IK-65WDA Wide Dynamic Color Camera is a high-resolution solution especially suited to surveillance applications where there is a lot of contrasting lighting or back lighting. This camera features a 133x dynamic range that enables it to simultaneously reproduce very dark and very light images in the same frame, and a day/night mode dynamic shutter that reproduces images in areas even the human eye can not perceive. Designed to provide a consistently high-quality image even in the lowest-light conditions, the Toshiba IK-65WDA is a great addition to any video surveillance system.

This day-and-night CCTV camera utilizes a 0.33-inch interline-transfer CCD (charge-coupled device) image sensor with a standard CS-mount lens that employs 768 by 494 effective pixels. The IK-65WDA provides a high resolution of 520 horizontal TVL (TV lines), and a super-clean image with a S/N (signal-to-noise) ratio of 53 dB or better. This camera features a six-mode backlight compensation, white balance, and automatic electronic shutter and gain controls. Highly sensitive to light, the IK-65WDA can receive a usable picture at a minimum illumination of 0.001 Lux. The Toshiba IK-65WDA operates on the NTSC video format, is dual-voltage compatible running on either 24-volts AC or 12-volts DC power, and can operate in temperatures ranging from 14 to 122 degrees Fahrenheit. This unit is mounted by a 0.25-inch threaded screw, holes for which are provided on both top and bottom, and features remote-control capability via RS-422 protocol.

Technical Features:

  • S/N ratio: better than 53 dB
  • Minimum illumination: 0.001 Lux
  • Effective pixels: 768 by 494 pixels
  • Horizontal resolution: 480 TVL in color, 570 TVL in B/W
  • Operating temperatures: 14 to 122 degrees Fahrenheit
  • Dimensions: 2.74 x 1.97 x 4.56 inches (W x D x H)
The Toshiba IK-65WDA camera provides you with a reliable high-quality color picture throughout the night. The IK-65WDA comes completely assembled and ready to use, with compact dimensions that make it compatible with smaller, less expensive housings. Via the easy menu-driven programming, users can even define the day-to-night threshold under which the IK-65WDA switches from color to black-and-white. Users should note that the CCD sensor may become permanently damaged if exposed to long hours of direct sunlight or halogen light, so the camera should not be mounted or pointed directly at the sun or other bright-light sources.

About Surveillance Camera Technical Features
Lux rating is the measurement used to indicate how sensitive a camera is to light, and stands for the level of light reflected off a piece of paper by a candle from one meter away. Thus a sensitivity of three Lux would mean a camera could generate an acceptable picture of a piece-of-paper-sized object that was illuminated by the equivalent of three candles from one meter away. The lower the Lux level, the better the camera's ability to work in low-light conditions. The camera's resolution should be greater than or equal to the resolution supported by the system's recorder or monitor. The S/N, or signal to noise ratio, is an important measure of a camera's quality. A poor camera, low-light conditions or poor wiring causes "noise" which consumes processing power and disk space. A camera with a wide dynamic range is ideal, especially for recording areas in which both indoor and outdoor light are present. CCD (charge-coupled device) sensors provide high-quality images that are less susceptible to noise. CMOS (complimentary metal-oxide semiconductor) sensors offer less image quality, but are usually more cost-effective and energy efficient.
