Amazon.com Review At only 4.7 by 3.2 inches square and 0.4 inches thick, the Palm Vx handheld is truly pocket sized; however, this model sports a hefty 8 MB of RAM. The Palm Vx handheld also sports a sleek exterior that looks supercool--an intangible value to be sure, but one that's hard to argue with. p The Palm Vx handheld offers the same improvements to its screen that were made to the Palm IIIx. These updates since the Palm III handheld include a far sharper screen and contrast-variable backlighting, which makes the Palm Vx handheld much easier to use in low-light conditions. Rechargeable lithium-ion batteries, which charge while the unit sits in its HotSync cradle, make battery life a nonissue. p You can synchronize Palm handhelds with your computer so that you can carry all your appointments, notes, contacts, and e-mail with you. The simple one-touch interface makes sense to new and seasoned computer users alike. For owners that prefer Microsoft Outlook to keep tabs on folks for business and pleasure, rest easy. With the simple installation procedure, and Outlook support out of the box, you can transfer the data you have in Outlook, or start fresh with the Palm Desktop software. In addition, there are thousands of applications for the Palm operating system available on the Internet that make your Palm handheld work as everything from a universal remote to a digital book and restaurant guide. p We had no trouble setting up the device, synching with our PC-based Netscape e-mail, using the Graffiti character-recognition software, or working with the address book, date book, memo writer, to-do list, and all the other applications that put the Palm OS on the map. All in all, this is a great upgrade to an already strong product. If this is your first Palm, it's a great way to start. p bPros:/b ul liPalm OS interface is simple to use liEasy to install and set up liUses rechargeable batteries liSleek, solid design can take some punishment /ul bCons:/b ul liNot expandable (has a closed case) liCase cover opens too easily /ul

Bad purchase it did not work September 28, 2008 Eduard Fimbres This item did not work I will never buy a refurbished item from Amazon. The screen freezes among other things. It should have been tested before shipped out.
PalmOne Vx Handheld July 31, 2008 Fred M. Warlick I was able to get my old unit in good working order. I now have two Vx Handhelds that are working very well. I am very satisfied. br /
Still working!! February 11, 2008 Simply Me (Oklahoma City, OK USA) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I have had my Palm Vx since late 2001. I am still using it today, February 2008. I would love to now upgrade to a color Palm. However, I am very fearful that I will not find another PDA which offers the durability and longevity I've received from my current Palm. I will continue to use my Palm Vx until it dies - permanently. There were times when I thought it had died, but discovered there was a button that was depressed and I didn't know it. That caused the battery to die and be unchargeable. Once I figured out the problem, I depressed the button, recharged the unit, and went back to business as usual. I love my Palm Vx!! Is there anything comparable? If so, please email me at delecia1@cox.net
Shock for lack of disclosure November 20, 2006 Guilly Del Pielago 0 out of 14 found this review helpful
I don't appreciate at all the fact that it was NOT disclosed before the purchase that the product was made in China. I thought it was made here. br /I will not order ANYMORE from Amazon because of this.
Rock Solid May 14, 2006 Mark Mann (Chicago, IL) 9 out of 9 found this review helpful
I bought my Palm Vx for six dollars at a thrift store a year ago and I've never had a problem with it. I own a IIIxe, an m500, and a Handspring Visor Deluxe, and the Vx and the Visor are my favorites. The 3.5.3 OS on the Vx seems to be rock solid-no crashes or freezes. The construction also is very solid. It was made in the USA, which I suspect is the reason for the high quality. Beware of PDA's made in China! The case on my m500 (made in China) became loose not long after I bought it and when I tried to tighten the screws they just stripped. I also get good battery life on the Vx, about a month per charge. With all the problems I read about concerning the latest generation of Palm PDA's, I can't help but think that Palm peaked with older models like the III series and the Vx. You really can't go wrong with the Vx, especially at today's prices. You'll have a reliable PDA with enough memory to add plenty of applications and it won't cost you an arm and a leg. Tip: if you want the Notepad app on your Vx (or older Palm), download Notes! 1.1 for free at palmgear.com.
