2 out of 5 stars Maybe simpler is sometimes better   January 8, 2009

I'm a self proclaimed tech geek. I love gadgets and can usually pick something up and master it within minutes. I read the instructions, and was operating the BC-900 correctly, but it just didn't want to perform. I couldn't get it to fully charge the batteries it came with. One stopped at around 300mA, one at 1750mA, and the other two stayed around 2100mA for a few hours before I decided this charger wasn't for me. I've switched to the Sanyo Eneloop precharged so look for my review on those if I every get them to run down so I can charge them with the Sanyo charger.

5 out of 5 stars Very Smart Charger!!   January 7, 2009

Not so intuitive with so many options but once you familiarize yourself with the basics it is a cinch. Very high value! with D and C compatible attachments, very sturdy travel case, it is a device that lets you know exactly what condition your rechargeable batteries are in and does a wonderful (albeit long) job of refreshing older batteries! I will take 1,200 digital pics a day at times but with a few extra rechargeable battery packs this unit keeps em' charged and ready to quench the cameras voracious thirst for battery juice. I plan on purchasing another unit to act as a standing refresh unit, dedicated to refreshing batteries only, to free up the original charger for recharge only use. I highly recommend this unit to anyone, it is well worth the few extra clams, it will not disappoint!

4 out of 5 stars Great unit   January 7, 2009

Probably the best charger out there for the money. It gives you tons of information about the batteries you are charging, probably more then you need to know. All this information can help you sort your batteries into groups of equal capacity, as similiar sized batteries can have vastly different capacities. I do wish for more slots though. I suppose you can buy a cheap high capacity charger and just use this one to monitor your batteries.

3 out of 5 stars over hyped   January 4, 2009

I read the reviews and thought I was going to buy a decent battery charger considering the hefty price. It's way too complicated. It may be fine if you have the hours to invest to read the poorly written manual. I thought this would improve the battery life in my portable electronics but it didn't. The #3 button on top is not correctly installed so the manufacturing quality is suspect. It works no better than the freebie charger I got with my rechargeable batteries.

4 out of 5 stars Misleading advertising re: the C and D adaptors   January 2, 2009

I got this product a few days ago, and it seems to work pretty well. My unit is v35, so hopefully I will not have any overheating problems. A couple of rechargeable AAAs I had sitting in a drawer were not recognized when I put them in; I charged them for an hour or so in another charger and then it recognized and charged them. This is a pretty annoying problem but not insurmountable. br / br /My main problem, and the reason for the 4 star rating, is the C and D adapters that come with it. My kids have a lot of toys that take Cs and Ds so i was looking forward to using them; I had even decided which toys I was going to try them in first. However, the D adapters won't work unless you put the C adapters into them! IOW, to use a D adapter you have to put the AA into the C adapter, and then put the C adapter into the D adapter! So if you want to use the 4 D adapters that come with this product, you won't be able to use the C adapters. This strikes me as a case of misleading advertising, as the specs say that it comes with 4 D adapters AND 4 C adapters, but it should say that you get 4 D adapters OR 4 C adapters, OR some combination thereof. There is no discernible reason why they couldn't make the D adapters accept a AA without the C adapters. So now I'm stuck buying more C adapters. However, I paid $39.99 for this product one week ago, and I see that it is now going for $69.99, so I guess I should count my blessings.
