Sturdy case, faulty latch May 2, 2009 Andre Brown (Kingston, Jamaica) I liked this case very much. Loved that it was sturdy, offering my TX excellent protection. I also loved the metal feel and finish. The only problem I had with this case was the latch mechanism. It lost it's ability to remain closed very quickly. I often had to bend the latch so that it would keep closed.
I have 3 palm tx cases November 11, 2008 J. C. Miller (Kentucky) ***********If you do have a broken palm hard case, call palm customer service and they will exchange the palm case for another palm case as long as its only been with in a year of purchase and if you have the reciept.
I have three palm tx cases:
1. palm hard case- the latch will break and the palm will rattle and possibly harm the item. Stay away!!
2. black leather sena case- BEST leather case on the market. magnet closure, nice leather, durable, protects the screen with mirror. Perfect balance of protection and function. However, will not protect the palm like a metal case. Buttons are a little hard to reach, this case is not designed to play games that require the buttons for controls.
3.Rhinoskin- I got the sena leather and rhino skin at the same time. I use the sena at home so i dont scratch the coffee table and i use my rhino skin at work with the concrete floors. protects the palm very well. looks very professional. the prince at 49 bucks is expensive for this, but it is better quality than the other rip off versions. I am very paranoid about dust getting in my palm and I havent noticed any large amount. I keep it in my front pocket all day. so the rhinoskin is the best hard case yet for the palm tx, but saunders took it off their website and now can only be bought for an expensive price with shipping. I am pleased with my purchase.
The Belt clip ruins it all! October 26, 2008 Financial Planning Guru (Missouri USA) I bought this case almost a year ago. I love the case itself. It is strong and easy to use and fits my Palm TX almost perfectly (the place for headphones is not quite aligned properly).
But I have one very serious complaint against this case: the belt clip is unreliable. Because it uses a screw that you can screw into the back of the case if you want to use the belt clip, there is no permanent lock to prevent the screw from coming un-screwed. And it does!
When I received the case, I read the documentation and it mentioned this problem. They said to tighten it really tight. So I did. Fine. I even checked it periodically. But one day it fell off and my Palm went skidding across the parking lot with the case open, face down.
There wasn't actually much cosmetic damage, but the screen alignment went wacky on the bottom area. And it didn't fall due to a loose screw. It fell because the screw stripped out.
Now, when I want to tap on the line of functions at the bottom of the screen, I have to tap 2-3mm below the control I want. And typing on the virtual keypad is not aligned either. The top of the screen seems ok, but the bottom is messed up from the shock.
My reccommendation is that if you choose to buy this case, fine if you don't want to use the belt clip. If you want a belt clip, buy something else. Your palm, and your pocket $$$, will appreciate it.
I have sent Rhinoskin a message to their customer service. I will see what they say.
RhinoSkin for TX - Not bad September 30, 2008 Robert POIRIER (Southern CA) This is my second RhinoSkin case. The first lasted about 5 years subjected to pretty rough treatment. This one was not up the the same standard that I had come to expect from Saunders. The latch did not close securely nor did it click as it appeared to be designed to do. I did a bit of surgery and bending and now it works better, still no click on closure, but pretty secure. I have had it open while cliped to my belt several times. A feature that did not appear with the first case for about 4 years of use.
Still, a very hearty case, but come on Saunders, you can do better.
On the whole, I would still recommend it to anyone with a Palm TX.
Solid as a rock! August 23, 2008 J. Mijares (San Francisco, CA) I had a Rhino Skin case for my Tungsten T3 and it protected my T3 from many a drop that would have shattered the unit had it not been in a case. So when I bought the Palm TX Handheld, I didn't hesitate to order a Rhino Skin case for it.
Pros:
- solid aluminum feel
- latch clicks shut (though you have to work to open it a bit)
- neoprene lining to protect your TX from being bounced around
- cut out slots for access for your hotsync cable, SD cards, headphones, stylus
Cons:
- the latch closes tight, but it's a bit hard to open
- the nice aluminum finish is prone to smudges and fingerprints
Overall, this is the best protection for the TX and I highly recommend it.
